When Priests Can Fly

We were outside today enjoying the sunshine and the 50 degree temperatures. Charlie was practicing riding his bike. Abby was on the scooter. I was pushing William in the stroller. A priest pulled up and asked us if he was in front of the right house. He was paying a visit to an elderly neighbor who had taken a bad fall and broken her arm a couple weeks ago. I directed him where to go. In the meantime, Charlie got inpatient and was saying, "MAAAAAM Hurry Up! MaaaM!!! MAAAM! " What an inpatient little bugger! I said, "Charlie, do you know who that was?" (We are protestant so the kids did not recognize him by his outfit.) I told the kids that the man was a priest and they looked at me dumbfounded. I told them that he worked for God and Jesus. Charlie apologized for acting that way. Abby quickly piped in and said, "Ooohh, Mama, does that mean he can FLY?"

The things kids say are so great. The best part is that she probably would have thought it totally acceptable and real that he could fly. Ah, to have the faith of a child, when all things are possible.

I just love how little kids' brains work...the things they associate ALWAYS seem to make a strange sort of sense, don't they? As cc said, there WAS The Flying Nun, so...??? HAHAHA!

And I always really liked the "MAAAAM..." I could just hear it! And, all the while, there's William Baby, lounged back in his stroller, just lookin' around and takin' it all in. Am I right? :) What a lovely day for the four of you...

HAHAHA!

My mom is a high school principal . .. one day, she broke a potted plant and dirt fell all over the ground. So she went out in the hall to get a broom. A bunch of kids were out there watching her walking around with a broom and she said to them, "Just coming back from my morning flight around campus."

I LOVED LOVED LOVED it!

We are Catholic and I just asked the kids yesterday if they knew who the Pope was...nope, not a clue. Looks like I have my work cut out for me. *sigh*
