My T.V. was Off?

This morning Charlie crawled in to bed with me while D-man was in the shower. It was still dark and Abby and William were still asleep(how wonderful!). I asked Charlie if he had a good sleep last night and he said, "Mom, I had the best sleep that I have had in a long time." I couldn't think what could he mean. He is five. He has not been sick. As far as I have known he has been sleeping just fine lately. I asked, "Why do you think last night was better than usual?" He responded, "Well Mom, last night I remembered to shut my T.V. off before I went to sleep."
Again...He is five, he does not have a T.V. in his room. I must have looked at him funny so then he explained. "Mom, my brain is my T.V. When I am trying to sleep it plays movies in my head. Sometimes, the movies are very scary so they make me not be able to sleep. Last night I remembered to shut my T.V off before I went to sleep so the scary movies could not keep me awake."
Wouldn't it be so wonderful if people that were kept awake by worries and fears could just shut their T.V.s off?

Oh- now that's a new way of thinking about it- what a clever kiddo! I wish I had a pregnancy tv and then a newborn tv and then a not feeling well tv....

That is seriously the cutest thing I think I have ever heard! I swear I am starting to wish I was related to you and Mary and Lisa - if nothing else but to hang out with all your kids! They are awesome.

Seriously........if only it were that easy and there was a remote control to go with it! ha! Love this story!
That Charlie of yours........he's a real thinker! I don't like when he asks me questions because he makes me think to hard for the right answers! There's no BSing him!

Oh my gosh, this kid is only 5? It's too bad there aren't more people (of the adult variety) who express themselves so eloquently! All that and good looks, too :).

Don't you just love those one-on-one moments?

My T.V. has been stuck on the fuzzy channel. Not the naughty fuzzy channel, the black and white fuzzy channel. Maybe tonight I'll just unplug the darn thing.

I'll try that next time I have trouble sleeping. It seems so simple.

You do know that you are in trouble? Yes?

He is one smart cookie. Wow. Incredible image and comparison he had. Imagine what he will say to you when he is 15.

Yes it would be wonderful! That is pretty profound for a 5 year old.

Lisa! I hear the big party is at your place...what time? And should I bring something? HAHAHA! Have a great time today, cheering your team on to victory. Can't wait to read about it and, hopefully, see some pix of all the fun!

GO PATS!

You backed up a whole septic tank? What the heck did you eat? I don't know if I should be horrified or utterly impressed with you???

Hallie :)

lisa -

do you think you will ever tell the story about the day you went for a run?!?!?

kim-d said...

Okay, Lisa, I was gonna be polite and not ask about the septic tank incident, but what the heck...no politeness here. Ummm...GIRL, WHAT WERE YOU EATING???? HA! And now your loving sis says there's a story about you trying to go for a run? Maybe a run for the bathroom? You need to share or we're going to think the worst!

And as long as your 3 yo is just "freaken out" it's all good; it's when your 3 yo is gonna go "freakin' crazy" that your Mom Radar should go on alert--HAHA!

OH NO!!!! DID YOU REALLY? YOU DIDN'T!!!!

Man! Between this and the septic tank incident? WHOA! What on earth did you do to incur Mother Nature's wrath in such...ummm...spectacular, perhaps?...ways!!!

BWAHAHAHAHA! I'm sorry for laughing, Lisa...I am! Really. Sorry. Oh, man...

I don't even know what to say. You had to have a change of clothes? Does that mean you #2'd in your undies?

I just died a little inside. I think I may have a hard time getting over this and it's not even my story!

You rock for sharing! :)

:) :) BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! :) :)

Why, Lisa...the humiliation just never ends for you, does it? Between Hallie asking the types of questions she does, and your sister(s) ***cough^^AMY^^cough*** more than anxious to get you to "tell THIS story, Lisa"--you never stood a chance!

As I said over at Hallie's...you're my new heroine! All of that, and you're still willing to leave your house. HAHAHA!

Hi, Lisa!

I am new to your blog by way of your sister, Amy, (and Hallie, and Kim d!). Had to come check this out! You sound like such a nice person (and you must have a fabulous sense of humor if you can laugh at yourself and let those three tease the heck out of ya!) :)

Your son sounds so intuitive and wise for such a little boy, wow! What an awesome way to explain what dreams are, like movies on tv!
